Matt Hefler Presents: On This Day October 7, 2001

On this day (October 7th) in 2001: The United States launches aerial attacks against the Taleban and sections of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. Operation Enduring Freedom was a response to the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks against the United States that saw four airliners hijacked and brought down, one each into the World Trade Centre towers in New York City, another into the Pentagon, and a third into fields in Pennsylvania. As part of the Global War on Terrorism, the ensuing War in Afghanistan, at the time of this posting in 2020, was still ongoing.
